Who Are OWC's New Board Members?

There’s never a dull moment at the OWC!

A big part of our Annual General Meeting (held June 15th) is the “changing of the guard” – saying goodbye to old Board members and welcoming the new Directors! The Annual Report 2016-2017 is available to download here: 2016-17 Annual Report.

We were honoured by a surprise visit from the Minister of Environment & Parks, who happily congratulated the OWC volunteers in attendance and presented them with their cards and OWC merchandise.

We enjoyed a rousing game of Jeopardy - which helped the audience understand OWC’s greatest accomplishments this year - and also raised $462 from the tables! Thank you to ALL our donors – and especially our In-Kind Donors, who contributed $179,252 worth of goods and services to OWC this last fiscal year.

The Southern Alberta Water Charter was also celebrated with a 2nd signing ceremony that included an additional 10 signatories who have signed onto the charter since April (this brings the total of #SAWC17 signatories to well over 40!). Taber Irrigation District, Chinook Food Connect, St. Mary River Irrigation District, Timber Ridge Conservation Site, William Singer III and Lori Brave Rock, Southern Alberta Land Trusts Society (SALTS), Southern Alberta Group for the Environment, Town of Picture Butte, Trout Unlimited Oldman Chapter, MD of Willow Creek and the Johnson/McPherson Family were the participating signatures for this second signing event.

This is an amazing start to the #SAWC17 summer! It is both encouraging and empowering to see all of these groups taking action themselves and pledging their support to protecting watershed health in Southern Alberta.

Welcome to all of our new Directors! The OWC's Board is strictly volunteer (we are a non-profit!) and so their time and commitment is extra-special. Thank you also to our members and everyone who attended our 2016 - 2017 AGM - and a big thank you to all of the OWC our dedicated volunteers and the support from our donors and sponsors. An extra shout-out goes to our staff who worked so hard to bring you these results! The AGM was largely made possible by our Office Manager and WLP Lead, Taren Hager, who did much of the organizing for this event.
