In case you thought all our Outreach Assistants this summer were going to be guys ... OWC has hired 4 Outreach Assistants in total for this season, working under the able guidance of Education Manager, Sofie Forsstrom. We have introduced you so far to Thomas Porter and Ryan Bell in previous blog postings. Now it's our pleasure to introduce Nicola!
Born and raised in Lethbridge, Nicola has grown up exploring the Oldman Watershed, where she developed a growing passion for local environmental management.
She has spent much of her time participating in local events and organizations such as the Geomatic Attic, Lethbridge Girls Rock Camp and most recently, the 2015 Keen for Green Festival, where she acted as Volunteer Coordinator.
Nicola started her post-secondary education with an Environmental Assessment and Reclamation diploma from Lethbridge College. She is currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, majoring in Environmental Resource Management with a focus on Environmental Governance, at the University of Guelph. While in Guelph, Nicola has been an active member of Student Life, engaging in many campus and community outreach activities.
Outside of school, Nicola enjoys being active and loves hiking, kayaking, rock climbing and Crossfit. She is excited to be returning to Lethbridge and eager to bring what she has learned back to her local community!
